St. Nick's Jazz Pub

About St. Nick's Jazz Pub

50 plus years and counting. Jazz fans and musicians alike consider St. Nick's Pub in Harlem 's Sugar Hill section their place to cut loose and rub elbows with jazz history. Seven nights a week starting at 9:30 pm, and blowing hard throughout the night, St. Nick's treats us to a weekly roster of musicians who've come to play. And in this historic jazz haunt, the spirits of Harlem past are ever-present to make sure that jazz in its purist form stays alive in the neighborhood that nurtured its evolution from stride to hard bop.   Only on Saturday nights at mid-night for African Night do we stray a bit to welcome the best sounds West Africa has to offer. Featuring music that's swinging until 4am.

And it's hardly changed since 1940’s, when it was Lucky's Rendezvous and owned by Duke Ellington's piano player, Lucky Roberts.  St. Nick's Jazz Pub features “Live” jazz seven nights a week! The Monday night jam session is not to be missed where some of the best players in the tri state area show up to jam and participate in the “cutting contest.

The crowds get really thick at this popular live jazz set so arrive early!   Even though it is popular, it could also be listed under off-the-beaten track, since it is up in Harlem and most consider the Jazz or even midtown as the places for live jazz in the city.  You won't want to miss our colorful place with a good, casual vibe. St. Nick's Jazz Pub is definitely worth riding uptown for.
